Why are things never easy?

After my success in setting up a blog site hosted by Heart Internet (http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/) I thought that I would look into some blog clients.

My first post was made using BlogDesk (www.blogdesk.org) and worked a treat. I then did some Googles and thought that I would try Windows Live Writer (http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/). Then the problems started …

After more Google time I thought that I had the found problem related to using WordPress MU and the solution here (http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/14046).

#Redirect non-www to www except for Windows Live Writer requests
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^genesysguru.com/blog
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !xmlrpc.php$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !wlwmanifest.xml$
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.genesysguru.com/blog/$1 [R=301,L]

No joy. After various changes with and without /blog still no joy. Broke the standard pages in the process. Now starting to think that the problem relates to wlwmanifest.xml which WLW looks for or maybe I should read the documentation – but that will have to wait for another day.

As a thought, what did we ever do before Google?
